The new EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Smart Medical Imaging at King’s College London and Imperial College London continues the successful partnership of two world-class institutions, to provide PhD training within an embedded hospital environment in Central London, with state-of-the-art research laboratories across the Universities, and in close interaction with the healthcare industry.

Our vision is to train the next generation of medical imaging researchers, leveraging the full potential of medical imaging for healthcare through integration of artificial intelligence, targeted, responsive and safer imaging probes, cutting-edge emerging and affordable imaging solutions, within a unique multi-disciplinary environment of imaging scientists, engineers, clinicians and other healthcare professionals.

PhD training programme

We offer an integrated PhD programme with a dedicated training programme in transferable skills, responsible research and innovation, and entrepreneurship. Our students also enjoy placement opportunities in world-class international labs and in the healthcare industry, maximising their career opportunities and employability.
